The British government is telling schools that Palestinian flags have no place in classrooms in the name of political impartiality, while its own Department for Education previously promoted Ukrainian flags in schools and publicly celebrated Ukraineโs "fight for sovereignty".
Education Secretary Lucy Powell said schools should not be places for political statements about international events and that Palestinian flags should not be displayed.
Yet the government has openly expressed solidarity with Ukraine, including flying its flag at the Department for Education and promoting school partnerships featuring Ukrainian flags.
