It’s also the better option when traveling with young children to have some communal space.

Cliveas are beautiful. I have a lot of them (orange ones), in mass plantations. But mine flowered in September this year (not sure why) when I was away. Missed them completely!

So much damage is done by the idea that there is a majority of people for whom life is straightforward. The world was designed for them, they effortlessly comply with societal demands and get over their life stresses easily. They never wonder whether there is something different about them, or criticise themselves for minor failings. They sail through school and work. They have meaningful relationships with only transient conflict. Their emotions are manageable and in proportion. They are round pegs in round holes. The neurotypical Some people look like this from the outside. Hardly anyone reports being like this from the inside. Yet more and more books and training programmes promote the idea that if you’re not like this, you must be neurodivergent. Wired differently. We have pathologised the human condition.

In Australia, it will now be GPs. A shared-care system with psychologists, with adequate health system rebates, would serve any developmental condition better; avoiding over-medicalisation & reduced assessment quality.

However to what extent do current ADHD diagnostic practices distinguish neurodevelopmental difficulties from trauma-related cognitive & behavioural presentations, particularly in individuals with early & chronic trauma exposure?

From what I’ve read, she still has significant neurological symptoms that have worsened over time - there are a number of diseases that can mimic MS.

In Queensland there is no additional training needed for Specialist GPs since Dec 2025. Non-specialist GPs can’t prescribe or diagnose. In other jurisdictions, policies & standard of training vary. I’ve seen some of the suggested training - an online module.

So what experiences do you think shaped this person and their behaviour/responses; or do you think they were born a predator?

Or maybe it will reduce the lifelong scars that bullying leaves behind. Maybe it will teach children how to arbitrate justly and respect differences, which can then transfer to workplaces as they grow. Exposure to injustice doesn’t teach you how to navigate it well.

Someone told me that you can tell how a person felt about you by the way they treated you in the end, and I had to take a minute and process that one.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Dementia is a cruel disease; my mum also suffered from it. What a comfort for you both that you were with her at the end.
