Fun fact: exposed old Roman roads are so common in Syria, there’s a town in Idlib called Raseef (رصيف), named after the 1km of pristinely preserved Roman road that used to connect Aleppo to Antioch. It has been around since Marcus Aurelius’ rule around 170AD
Another remarkable archaeological discovery in #Syria. Recent heavy rains in the Eastern region suddenly exposed a stone-paved surface in Sukhnah desert (E. #Homs), suggesting the remains of an ancient road. Based on the available evidence, 2 types of stones can be distinguished: very smooth, regular slabs - which could also be mistaken for a building's courtyard - and more irregular stones that could indicate later modifications/additions. The smoother paving is certainly consistent with Roman roads found in other parts of Syria. The site is also particularly interesting because it's located close to Qasr Hayr Sharqi, a fortified Umayyad complex featuring 2 palaces with their enclosures, as well as a bathhouse & gardens - in middle of the desert. An aqueduct supplied the complex with water from springs in the Kawm oasis. One possibility is that this Roman road remained in use during the Umayyad period, serving as an access route to the palatial complex. This wouldn't be unusual: structures built before the Islamic period were often reused for centuries. While History often presents the Islamic conquest of Syria as a clear break, archaeology frequently reveals a much greater degree of continuity, with earlier infrastructure & buildings remaining in use long after. Fact few hours of heavy rain could wash away 30 cm of sand and expose such a structure gives you an idea of how much of Syria's ancient heritage still remains buried - just waiting to be discovered.

There is a curse in all ME ideology pushers, which is the self-orientalization of appearances over anything else; it results in the fraudulent abandonment of any actual substance in favour of aura Like I feel no one in Europe could be tricked into seeing this as pro feminist pic

If anything, the fact that those ideologues AREN'T Nazis makes it worse, not better, because to me at least it reveals a level of nihilism involved that supersedes danger of ideology, you're instead faced with reality that it's a simulacrum of beliefs with no life in their eyes

People fear the thought of living in a world with p-zombies, meanwhile, the Middle East is already skipped that question by giving us straight-up normal zombies

... Is this what that whole thing was about? I feel like it wouldn't be, because that did the opposite of convincing Syria to give him water (which they need because Israel is denying them access)
Jordan’s King Abdullah II: Water, water, water. We will not allow Jordanians' thirst to be held hostage to any circumstance. There is no room for bargaining or compromise.

📌A massive Jordanian security and media failure is unravelling after details about the Karak church attack incident came to light. Do you remember the fake excuse #Jordan used to attack #Syrian territory and kill kids and women in their house while they were sleeping? After Jordan officially backed down from the details of the #Karak_church_attack incident in #Jordan, and hid the names and info of the terrorists because they're Jordanian, and after all the pressure and media mess Jordan went through because it's trying to throw the blame on #Syria any way possible, and under the pressure of Syrian media that exposed the lies and Jordanian contradictions, Jordan went back again to the real story with real details this time: 📌 The attackers are Jordanians and have nothing to do with Syria 📌 They're from a village called Jadida in Karak. They're super extremist terrorists, and everyone knows that, even their relatives have been complaining about them for years. 📌 The village imam, who's a relative of theirs, says they're from the Jordanian Dhenibat clan, and that the three terrorists wouldn't pray behind the villagers because they considered them "infidels" and "apostates." 📌 The imam says he was afraid the day would come when they'd walk into the mosque and kill everyone inside it. 📌 The imam also says, according to his filmed statement to Al Arabiya, that the terrorists wouldn't eat the food or sacrifices of their relatives and the people of the village, and that they didn't differentiate between a church and a mosque, in their eyes, everyone is an infidel. 📌 He said: "The three terrorists used to call Muslims infidels before Christians, and they refused to send their kids to school because of their extremism." ⚠️The important questions here is: - Where was Jordanian intelligence? - Where were the Jordanian security forces? - why did they let things escalate until the Karak church attack happened? - most importantly of all, why did Jordan rush to directly blame Syria, bomb Syrian land, kill a whole family with children, women, and the elderly, and keep pushing the lies they claimed?
Replying to @abdalhadealani
The Jordanian attackers who attacked the church (full names are shown) as the Jordanian news agency @RoyaTV published They have nothing to do with Syria and today’s Jordanian attack that killed innocent civilians cannot be justified at all!

By the time Tito died it was unfixable, at best it would've been able to survive by becoming a loose federation. Yugoslavia went down the wrong path from day 1, instead of promoting a Yugoslavian identity, they kept codifying the small differences into law.
Tito died You are in charge of Jugoslavia What are you doing?

If I understand things correctly, the worst path for Israeli politics in a macro sense is probably a soft coup by Lieberman, who'd take threat of opposition considering working with arabs and decide to deny them that by allying with Netanyahu since he get right to form gov first

Russia for some reason:
🚨🇷🇺🇩🇿🇪🇭 HISTORIQUE | La Russie oppose son VETO au Conseil de sécurité de l’ONU sur le Sahara occidental ! 🔥 Coup de théâtre diplomatique à New York !

I saw a lot or people reference talks of liberalization in Syria with fears that it would be a hostile robbing of state assets by vultures and foreigners, however it does give better prespective on what Real Russia style vulture liberalization looks like by contrasting Venezuela

The people you're talking to are unintelligent morons, they won't be able to understand your hupothical question and the reason for that is the same lack of IQ which made them hold their ideology in the first place. They'll just go "well I'll just never be in that position"
If you are opposed to involuntary care, ask yourself honestly: if this was you, what do you hope would happen?

Nothing breaks the illusions of intelegent design worse than horses, literally nonsensical creatures, it doesn't have legs, it's not walking on its toes either, they walk on their nails. And if it falls even once it's just dead, that's it; It usually can never stand up again!

You wouldn't go talk about how Gulf security is Syrian security if you were still deciding whether to apply. I presume this is an indication that they're talking about the terms of such an agreement and what the responsibilities and benefits would be?
