🔴@Helen_Whately, Shadow Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, has claimed £2 MILLION expenses in 10 years. £300,000 relates to her own travel and accommodation - yet she only lives 50 miles from London. Her boss, @KemiBadenoch has 3 children, claims £2.7K per month to rent a 6 bed farmhouse & tried to claim expenses for a family holiday. The country can't afford these @Conservatives. - @Heccles94

This might as well have been written today "No evidence that impoverishing people...will prompt them into employment...particularly true for those with mental health problems" DWP, 2006: "estimated impact on those [with] a mental illness is never statistically different from 0"

Labour in 2026 are no different to Labour in 2006 Sought to reduce incapacity benefits by 1 million (equal to claimants with mental health problems) Fraud was low so work was sold as a treatment & a virtue Yet no evidence suggested impoverishing ill people leads to employment

We should support people who can work into employment. You don't do that by cutting the already meagre support disabled people rely on to live. Restricting eligibility doesn't mean less people will be disabled, just that more will be in poverty. That's not the Labour way.

A landlord was reportedly receiving £1,790 a month from the council. He was offered £4,500 a month to provide the same property for asylum accommodation. The taxpayer is funding both arrangements. The government is using public money to outbid its own councils for housing.

🚨Conservative shadow minister’s nearly £2 MILLION expenses bill draws scrutiny Helen Whately, the Conservatives’ Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, has claimed almost £2 million in parliamentary expenses over the past decade. These payments come from the public purse—funded by the taxes of ordinary hard-working people. Most of the total covers staff salaries, but around £300,000 relates to her own travel and accommodation, even though she lives roughly 50 miles from London in Kent. Party leader Kemi Badenoch claims £2,700 a month toward rent on a six-bedroom farmhouse in her Essex constituency, within the rules for an MP with three children. She has also faced claims she once sought taxpayer funding for a family holiday flight, which officials refused. Critics say the sums sit uncomfortably beside Conservative calls to tighten welfare; supporters note the claims follow standard IPSA rules for MPs

Thousands of us had to do the same. What choice did we have? We couldn’t fail them even further, when the system #Failed to deliver appropriate support, education and a suitable setting, to ensure they thrived !💔💔#ParentCarers

Here's a thread of evidence that "back to work" schemes for the welfare claimants targeted (LCWRA/ESA) don't work They're a waste of money & resource & inflict disappointment &/or distress on the majority targeted When you're too ill to work, you're too ill to work. Who knew 🙃

Here's Iain Porter of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation telling the Work & Pensions Committee on 14 July 2025 that Employment Support for chronically ill & disabled people "at most will see 1, 2, or 3% of those millions of disabled people impacted by cuts getting into work"
