a German startup just turned an AI video model into an image generator that's 5x faster and 7x smaller. it generates photorealistic images up to 16MP, edits 8 images together, and the weights are publicly available. Pruna AI basically took MiniMax's video model and gave it a completely different job.

holy shit, Vercel just open-sourced a free tool that lets AI agents control your ENTIRE desktop without even looking at your screen. it's called agent-desktop, and it works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. >no screenshots or vision models needed >clicks buttons, types, and navigates apps >reads UI elements directly from the OS >returns structured JSON for precise actions >works with existing AI agents instead of guessing where to click from screenshots, AI can now read exactly what's on your desktop and interact with it. the crazy part is that the tool doesn't even contain an AI model. Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified. The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far. Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete. As an immediate precaution, Binance has: - temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed; - revoked the affected address authorisation; - engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds. Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice. Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions. binance.com/en/support/annou…

🚨HOLY MOLY. GOOGLE DEEPMIND JUST UNVEILED GENIE 4, AND AI-GENERATED WORLDS ARE GETTING RIDICULOUSLY CLOSE TO VIDEO GAMES. Except there's one major difference. The world isn't just a video playing in front of you. It's being generated and simulated as you interact with it. Walk into a room, interact with objects, change the environment, or trigger an unexpected event, and the AI attempts to simulate what happens next in REAL TIME. And Google is pushing this far beyond realistic graphics. Photorealistic, explorable environments Simulated physics, collisions and movement Characters that move and respond dynamically Native ambient sounds and interactive dialogue Real-time controls to modify the world Gemini-powered reasoning to maintain coherent events The bigger story isn't gaming. Google wants these generated environments to become training grounds for AI agents and robots. Instead of testing robots exclusively in expensive physical environments, researchers could let them practice navigating, interacting and responding to situations inside simulated worlds. Genie 4 is initially being tested with selected partners, with broader access planned through Project Genie and developer APIs. The physics and reliability claims still need independent testing. But the direction is wild. We've spent decades building virtual worlds manually. Now Google is working toward AI systems that generate the world while you're actually living inside it.

🚨HOLY MOLY. A VOLUNTEER ENGINEER IN CZECHIA JUST HELPED SAVE MILLIONS OF WEBSITES FROM A MASSIVE CYBERSECURITY CRISIS. His name is Ondřej Surý. And the story behind him exposes something deeply wrong with how the internet operates. On October 21, two critical PHP vulnerabilities, each rated 9.2 in severity, triggered a global security emergency. PHP powers roughly 70% of websites. The flaws could allow attackers to execute malicious code on vulnerable servers without authentication. Cloudflare’s CEO reported that exploitation attempts went from thousands before public disclosure to MILLIONS afterward. And while companies scrambled to secure their infrastructure, one name kept appearing. Ondřej Surý. He’s a Czech engineer who has spent over 20 YEARS maintaining PHP installation packages in his spare time. He doesn’t even work for the PHP Foundation. His actual job is directing DNS engineering at the nonprofit Internet Systems Consortium. When the emergency hit, Surý helped turn the official fixes into ready-to-install packages for Debian and Ubuntu servers. He even backported protections to PHP versions dating back to 5.6, which reached end-of-life in 2018. And here’s where the story gets ridiculous. For years, this critical work had been supported largely by modest donations. After the crisis, Surý revealed that donations received in just 24 HOURS roughly matched an entire previous year’s contributions. The most absurd detail is that he doesn’t even run PHP on his own systems. Think about that. An engineer voluntarily maintains software that countless businesses depend on, helps defend them during a global security emergency, and only then does the internet realize how much it relies on him. The real scandal isn’t that one volunteer became a hero. It’s that so much critical internet infrastructure still depends on people doing this work in their spare time.

holy shit, someone is rebuilding the entire software industry and making it OPEN SOURCE. it’s called the Everything Project, and the goal is insane: free alternatives to nearly every major paid software tool. - Photoshop and Illustrator alternatives - Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint alternatives - Premiere Pro and CapCut alternatives - Slack, Zoom and Gmail alternatives - AutoCAD and SolidWorks alternatives - Notion, Trello and Salesforce alternatives all in one GitHub repository, with an MIT license and 1.9k stars already. the project is still a work in progress, but imagine telling Adobe, Microsoft and Autodesk that your business model is a GitHub README away from becoming optional. 💀 github.com/HeyPuter/everythi…

We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work. At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated. We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.

holy shit, someone built an open-source MCP server that claims to reduce AI agent context usage by 98%. and it already has 27K GitHub stars. it's called Context Mode, and it tackles one of the most annoying problems with Claude Code and other AI agents. > reduces 315 KB of raw context to 5.4 KB > keeps unnecessary tool output out of context > tracks file edits and git operations > remembers tasks across conversation compaction > stores session events in SQLite > retrieves relevant history using BM25 search > lets agents analyze files through code > reduces wasted output tokens > supports MCP-based agent workflows > 667K+ users claimed by the project we built AI agents with massive context windows. then immediately started filling them with logs, tool outputs and unnecessary explanations. now we're building tools to stop AI from wasting its own memory. 💀

deedy is right. india treats its brightest minds like shit and then cries about brain drain. why should talented people stay in a country that consistently punishes competence and rewards mediocrity?
The smartest Indians continue to come to build in the US for the simple reason that the economic incentives are far far better. Perplexity ($20B), Skild ($14B+), Baseten ($13B), Together ($8B), Glean ($8B), Modal ($5B), Rubrik ($25B), Harness ($5B), Blacksmith, Parallel, Greptile, CodeRabbit, Composio, Distyl ($2B), Resolve, Luma, Cartesia, Wispr, dMatrix, Arize and many more - all started by at least one Indian-born founder. The US is a far easier to raise capital in with far less dilution. Most Indian companies are switching where they're domiciled to get access to the US capital markets. Every single Indian venture firm is trying very hard to invest in the US or risk not participating in the AI race (ironically, the management fees of venture firms are so high in India relatively that this is the one group that net of carry actually has incentive to be in India because they take home well north of a living wage whether or not funds perform do) While Zomato ($35B now, $8B at IPO) might be the biggest outcome in Indian venture, Cursor ($60B), Reflection (potentially $20B+), World Labs ($8B), OpenRouter ($8B), HuggingFace ($12B) and of course the $1T+ big labs quickly make those outcomes seem small and happen on a much smaller time scale, with much higher IRR. Engineers at these startups regularly get paid $1M/yr, and make $10M+ on exit. Even in BigTech, it is trivial to pull up levels fyi and see that if you're L6/L7+ with ~10 years of experience, you're making $1M/yr there too. And of course, we all know the slew of Indian CEOs of companies here, not to mention a huge bench of lesser known executives across the board in public and private companies. I say all this because every time there is a slight immigration hiccup in the US, I hear the online pleas to "build in India", I struggle to understand why most engineers, academics or founders would do that net of desire to be close to family, failure to obtain visa and devout patriotism. This is not a superiority thing or a US v India thing. The economic incentives at least for technologists to being in the US outweigh India by at least an order of magnitude.

holy shit, Microsoft just dropped an AI model that's 35X FASTER than GPT-6 Sol. and it costs just $0.042 per MILLION input tokens, with free output tokens. it's called Microsoft-Decision-1, and it's built to make decisions for AI agents instead of generating endless text. here's why this is interesting: > 35X faster than GPT-6 Sol in Microsoft's tests > 4.5X faster than Quyet-1.0-Large > tested on 36 benchmarks with nearly 150K questions > built on Qwen3.5-9B > automatically routes tasks to the right AI models > scores AI responses and agent actions > handles classification, ranking and prioritization > returns confidence scores for every decision > 200X cheaper than GPT-6 Sol in an internal Xbox research use case > available now through Microsoft Foundry everyone's racing to build AI models that think harder. Microsoft is betting there's a massive market for models that make decisions faster and cheaper. and that might be exactly what autonomous AI agents need. 👀

Simon was just found dead.
I am the British whistleblower who reported evidence concerning Howard Lutnick, his links to Jeffrey Epstein, and Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC to the FBI in 2020–21. Listen to the BBC File on 4 documentary about my whistleblower story: bbc.com/audio/play/m002yx47 BBC News: bbc.com/news/articles/c9q28d… I later shared evidence with the House Oversight Committee, which subsequently questioned Lutnick behind closed doors. My disclosures also contributed to regulatory action in the US and UK, including a £96m HMRC tax assessment relating to BGC’s partnership scheme. I believe the true tax exposure is substantially higher. I also reported to the FBI and financial regulators matters involving Cantor Fitzgerald’s Relief Fund and BGC/Cantor’s annual 9/11 Charity Day. The personal consequences of whistleblowing, and the retaliation I say followed, have been devastating for my family and me. Mother Jones previously reported that documents I uncovered revealed a years-long business tie between Howard Lutnick, Cantor Fitzgerald and Jeffrey Epstein through AdFin, including a 2018 exchange in which Lutnick and Epstein discussed the company directly: motherjones.com/politics/202… motherjones.com/politics/202… Follow me here on X and on LinkedIn. I intend to share more of the evidence and the story behind what happened.
