PERM test, 24-hour check. Yesterday I applied by email to PERM ads, the jobs employers must advertise to Americans before sponsoring a green card. I'm a qualified U.S. applicant. Still no reply, not even a receipt: @GileadSciences (2 roles) @sigmacomputing @CBRE @DEShawGroup Why it matters: with no receipt, an employer can later claim no American applied. That's possible fraud in the labor-market test, and every silence goes on the record for review. We heard back from Lam Research and aren't reporting them. Things are moving, and we're tracking every step. TikTok has been responsive. One employer held a phone screen. Appian answered with screening questions. An answered application is how we know the seat was really open. Heard nothing? Report it to the DOL OIG hotline @USLaborIG. Want to apply to PERM ads yourself? Have a Grok Bot account? Meet Tony, the PERM Watch Bot: xitter.cf/7SwanSwimming/status/2… Reply TONY and we'll get you set up. Support the American System 🇺🇸
One American's job search, shared with me privately. He asked to stay anonymous. His layoff, in his own words, came from inflated expectations of what SI could write. Not visa workers. Then came the search: About 300 applications. 2 phone screens. 107 rejections. 191 never answered at all. At his former employer, he saw outside worker groups brought in. That's his firsthand experience, not proof of cause. But it's the same silence we log on PERM ads, the ones employers must run for Americans before sponsoring a green card. That's why Tony, our PERM watchdog bot, logs every answer and every non-answer. Silence becomes the record. Good policy sets the table. Americans in the seats build the capability, but only if someone answers. What's your count? Applications sent, and how many got a human reply?

Foreign doctors need real USMLE scores + ECFMG certification (which verifies the medical school) to match into US residency. Most start on J-1, then move to H-1B after Step 3 and a state license. How some are gaming it: In India, people who fail the FMGE screening test are buying fake certificates for ₹20-29 lakh to get local medical registration. Schools like Al-Falah have been accused of using fake patients and “on-paper” faculty just to pass inspections and hand out degrees. Forged transcripts from real universities also show up in these networks. ECFMG does primary-source checks, but sophisticated forgeries of legitimate schools still slip through

Rampant Fraud. Fake degrees, fake resumes, having someone else take your interview, outsource your work to someone in India. All this at industrial scale and not one-off. This is my first-hand experience. Plus the attitude of bending rules for small gains. All from coming from a low-trust society. Oblivious to basic decency and norms ( cutting in lines, standing in aisles, being loud in public). Stealing, shop-lifting, fake CDLs, fake marriages for visa. Bribery, kickbacks - very common in certain Tech companies. More than you would believe. No one gets prosecuted. Attitudes towards women and weak. Casteism, Regionalism, Religious animosity. Phew..

Anyone interested in a director role at the Gates Foundation? We found this $406k role as a strategy director in this week's Seattle Times. But strangely, this job isn't on their website career page? Could they be planning to sponsor an immigrant for an EB visa for this job?

Indians are updating their green card applications for EB1 category to speed up the process to only a year long processing time. Apparently publishing 10 BS AI written articles in online journals qualifies them for this fast paced GC process even with normal IT jobs. What a scam!

Why is Netflix advertising this fully remote software engineering job in the Seattle Times Classifieds this week - but the same job isn't listed on their career website? We bet a lot of Americans would take a fully remote job at Netflix for a $750k salary!

HR at your companies might want to start doing a deep dive into the degrees and certifications of any Indians working there. I’m doing a scrape of LinkedIn profiles and I’m going to find discrepancies. Then I’m doing to make your company look incompetent.

🚨 Day 11 of the Carnegie Mellon scandal featuring racist Professor Uju Anya, still going strong. “Die first, white man. Then ask yourself why I’m dancing.” “These f*cking racist white supremacist pedophile assholes will not win.” Still employed, even after years of repugnant public statements that call for the deaths of white citizens and threats against anyone reporting her. Carnegie Mellon is currently receiving an injection of $455 MILLION in federal funding. 11 days and our $79 BILLION dollar Department of Education hasn’t said one word about an unhinged professor whose public rhetoric makes a classroom unsafe for students. Absolutely pathetic. @EDSecMcMahon @usedgov

UPDATE: This gets better. On August 31, Washington received Amazon’s WARN notice for another 121 layoffs. Then on September 1, literally the next day, Amazon posted new jobs in INDIA for the Amazonian eXperience and Technology Departures Team. In other words, the same Departures organization whose director is signing American layoff notices is actively adding headcount in India. Including people who will work on Appeals for departing Amazon employees. Amazon’s own job posting explains the role: “Our organization delivers best-in-class service to Amazon employees and alumni throughout their Appeals journey. As a member of the HR organization, you will handle confidential and sensitive information, as well as demonstrate strong integrity and ethical behaviors.” You really cannot make this up. August 31: Vani’s name goes on a government notice documenting another round of American job losses. September 1: Amazon starts advertising more jobs in India for the Departures organization she leads. An Immigrant from India signs the WARN notice. America loses the jobs. India gets jobs. And when an employee wants to appeal what happened, an Indian, in India handles the appeal - but they’ll do it while ‘demonstrating integrity and strong ethical behaviors.’ “Earth’s Best Employer” 🤡
More layoff rumors have been surfacing at Amazon, so I went digging through the latest WARN notice. It turns out, Amazon IS cutting at least another 121 jobs in Washington and 148 in California starting in October. Washington state layoffs include: 13 Software Development Engineer I 12 Software Development Engineer II 12 Software Development Engineer III 15 Applied Scientist II/III 3 Manager III, Software Development So 37 software development engineers are getting cut. Then I checked the visa filings. On March 31, the Department of Labor certified an H-1B LCA for Amazon Web Services for a Software Development Engineer III in Seattle making $220,100 a year. Case I-200-26083-724548. But what really caught my attention was the filing is for CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT, with the requested employment period beginning September 20, 2026. Look at the timeline: Amazon tells Washington it’s eliminating 12 SDE III positions. September 20: the employment period begins for an H-1B worker with the exact same title in Seattle. October 1: the layoffs begin. I think it’s completely fair to ask: Why is Amazon continuing H-1B employment for an SDE III in Seattle, while eliminating SDE III jobs in Washington at essentially the same time? Then I looked at who signed the WARN notice. Vani Appukkutty Director, SDM Departures PXT Departures So, I looked deeper - Her story makes this even more interesting. Vani came to the United States from India for graduate school at West Virginia University. She appears in WVU payroll records, and her graduate research acknowledged support from NASA and NSF programs. She then landed an entry level software engineering job at Amazon. Over time, she worked her way into management, left Amazon for Microsoft, became a Principal Engineering Manager there and then boomeranged back to Amazon during the pandemic hiring boom. Today she’s the engineering director for Amazon’s Departures organization and her name is on the government notices announcing that American workers are losing their jobs. That’s quite an American opportunity story. I’d like to know whether the Americans on these WARN notices are being afforded the same opportunity. Because you have Amazon telling the Department of Labor it wants to continue H-1B employment for an SDE III in Seattle, while telling Washington it’s eliminating 12 SDE III jobs. Maybe there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation. Let’s see it. How many H-1B workers is Amazon continuing in occupations it’s simultaneously cutting? How many Americans selected for layoff were considered for other open positions with the same title? How many new or continued H-1B petitions did Amazon file for those occupations between its January layoffs and this WARN? And what role, if any, does Amazon’s Departures technology play in determining who stays and who goes? Those are questions Congress should be asking.

When Osama bin Laden was killed, Nithya Raman wrote in her blog that it made her very uncomfortable. While Americans celebrated retribution for 9/11, it made her feel "strange". She tried to delete this from the internet, but I have...sources and methods.
On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, my thoughts are with thousands of everyday heroes who died in the attacks and their families. May we all continue to carry their memory in our hearts.
