Terrific news—finally a sane voice on the council. He hustled on this one. It's a great start, but just a start.
Election update! 🗳️ WE won the battle, and a very significant one, but we haven't won the war just yet. In a MASSIVE UPSET the underdog prevailed and I'm humbled to have finished first in this race! Out funded 50-1, with no campaign manager, no consultant, no unions, no lobbyists, or special interest backing me. I was the outsider candidate, the only one not backed by a current council member and the voters spoke. They are fed up with career politicians and they are ready to support regular candidates, who will stand against corruption and once and for all finally put the people of Phoenix first. HOWEVER, in Phoenix, a candidate needs 50% + 1 of the vote to win, which I didn't reach, even though I received the most votes. This means I will be headed to a runoff in March against the candidate who received the second most votes. So the door knocking continues, my daily blogs will continue, and our fight to take this city back and return the power to the people goes on. I want to be 💯 clear on one thing. I did not come in first place. I did not make this happen. WE came in first place. WE made this happen. This campaign is the epitome of GRASSROOTS, one that is for the people by the people. I never would have made it to this point without my Lord and savior Jesus Christ and without all of you. My beautiful fiance Brooke who is my rock, my friends and their endless encouragement, my family - my loving parents who are always there for me, cousins, aunts and uncles, my neighbors who have stood with me, my amazing supporters, all the ROCKSTAR PCs and LDS who carried me here!, my friends at TPA and ballot chasers, the door knockers, volunteers, donors, endorsements, and those who follow me on social media and share my posts. To my fellow TBP running mates we have a bond they can never break. Thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart ❤️ But now I need you guys more than ever. We just made history once and we're going to do it again this March. Who's with me? America first! 🇺🇸

FULL STEAM AHEAD, SCREW THE BLUE SLIPS.
NEW: Democrats rammed through judges in the lame-duck Senate in 2024. Republicans must learn from their example and confirm all of President Trump's judges before January 3rd. Tell your senators: Confirm All Judges NOW. article3project.quorum.us/ca…

I've read his memoir and followed him politically for years. He's a rock-ribbed constitutional conservative—not a populist by any stretch. I'm sure he'd take their support but they'll have better luck with Vance or Hawley.
“The populist DeSantis argument…that's going to be potent in the hands of someone like him with a record of legislative and executive accomplishment.” @MarkHalperin of @NextUpHalperin and @emilyjashinsky discuss Ron DeSantis' potential 2028 run after he called the midterms an “extinction-level event” for the GOP. I have a lot of opinions about Musk and his businesses that I share often. But his defense of free speech and, more importantly, the culture of free speech has earned undying, undiluted respect and appreciation from me. Everyone should be nodding along; far too many wouldn't.
Elon Musk: "Even if I'm criticized by the whole world, I won't let go of X." The reason makes you think. Reporter: "Why are you so attached to X?" Elon: "What do you mean by that?" Reporter: "Since the acquisition, it's been nothing but criticism, right?" Elon: "That's true." Reporter: "Politicians criticize you too." Elon: "Yes." Reporter: "There are conflicts with regulatory authorities." Elon: "That's true." Reporter: "Honestly, wouldn't it be easier to sell it?" Elon: "Why?" Reporter: "You have Tesla and SpaceX, don't you?" Elon: "I do." Reporter: "There's no need to stay in the center of controversies, right?" Elon: "But what would that solve?" Reporter: "...... Huh?" Elon: "I think it's important to have a place where opinions can be exchanged freely." Reporter: "But there are unpleasant opinions too, aren't there?" Elon: "Of course." Reporter: "There are wrong opinions too." Elon: "That's true." Reporter: "So, shouldn't there be restrictions?" Elon: "How far to restrict?" Reporter: "That's..." Elon: "Who decides which opinions are correct?" Reporter: "..." Elon: "It's easy to protect only the opinions we agree with." Reporter: "Yes." Elon: "But what about when contrary opinions arise?" Reporter: "..." Elon: "That's where the real test of free speech happens, don't you think?"

Exactly.
But certain candidates (ahem, El-Sayed) act like it was *their* policies or *their* personalities that caused them to win. teapawt.org/dylanmatt/status/21183…

Love this!
My taxi driver the other day said that he'd been using AI to create images of what cars would look like after he'd restored them. He uses it to persuade his wife to let him buy them. I get far more excited about people using AI to do things they didn't do before. Things that we would never have dreamed of doing . That's the thing about new technology. - First, we make it easier, faster, and cheaper to do what we already do. - And then we do new things that we didn't dream possible. It's the second stage, which is a lot more exciting. And it's the second stage which tends to change the world.

Yep! This finding holds for all of the low/zero-calorie sweeteners: they don't spike your glucose, insulin, or anything else. In trials, they do nothing. They're way better for you than sugar is.
Further proof this week that the fear of stevia causing endocrine disruption causes more endocrine disruption than stevia itself. No effect on glucose. No effect on insulin. No effect on GLP-1. No effect on hunger. No effect on fullness. No effect on energy intake at next meal.

This is the way—offer a positive vision and make it happen.
Our Grand Old Party (GOP) needs to take an honest look at where we go from here. Americans gave Republicans a governing trifecta and a mandate to put America First, economically and internationally. While there are some genuinely good results, there were important failures. Republican leaders repeatedly told Americans the economy was doing just fine, even as the cost of housing, groceries, and everyday necessities continued to strain family budgets. When the median home costs six times the median household income, telling people everything is affordable if you just work harder is insulting. Gaslighting did not lower the cost of gas, homes, or healthcare. I opposed the Iran War from day one. The young Americans who could be asked to fight our wars are among its strongest opponents. These same young adults are Americans having the American dream stolen from them. That’s our base and our future! Central planning doesn't work for economies or for politics. Washington cannot effectively dictate what voters care about or who their candidates should be. We had the mandate to tackle inflation and government waste, fraud, and abuse, but lacked the political will (or unity) to deliver. Speaker Johnson accepted some responsibility with dignity and swiftly stepped aside. I respect his example. We cannot expect different results from the same leaders. We remain in the majority until January 3, 2027. Republicans should be on offense through the end of the year, fighting for the principles and policies that won us the trifecta in 2024. Let’s keep calm and defend freedom. There is no substitute for victory.

The definition of a wave election is that you get elected almost entirely because of the (D.) or (R.) next to your name. The candidates and causes will act like it's all their doing, but Ham Sandwich (D.) would have won any given race this year.

“Candidate quality and campaign are all that matters.” Hurr-durr, derp, derp. He had the “D” on the ballot. That’s it—no one picks this over Jeff Dial on considered opinion.
Republican Jeff Dial has conceded to Democrat Sebastian Matta in the Maricopa County clerk of Superior Court race. Matta, a 19-year-old Arizona State University sophomore, will lead the clerk's office in the nation's fourth largest county

Violated campaign finance laws, completely unqualified, doesn’t matter because Tump—“no R”—needs to be rebuked. Sickening.

That'll show Trump, won't it! *foot bleeding profusely from shotgun wound*
THE BLUE FREEZE OF AI. “They can’t do that. Can they?”

Yep, here goes the overfitting…
We have to go back to the election of 1948 to the last time Democrats held both US Senate seats, Gov, SoS, AG, SPI, Treasurer and Mine Inspector.

This observation about prediction markets from @matt_levine is spot-on. As these become more entrenched, HFT (HFP?) becomes more feasible and they become more "description" than "prediction"—so less useful for forecasting. bloomberg.com/opinion/newsle…

The hero we need in 2028.
Q: “Should republicans look to you as some kind of savior going forward?” A: “There’s no saviors in politics. Elected officials are supposed to be servants.”
