💔💔💔💔😢😢😢 We were notified late today that Bizzar Brown aka BB passed away at the lot. To say that we are absolutely heartbroken is an understatement. We could see BB was in very poor shape when she first arrived at the lot and she had lost a foal. After bailing her we had the lot put her in a separate area with hay and water.The lot said she had been eating and drinking. We have no more information than that. It has been a difficult week in more ways than one and trying to get transport, then we rescued Brilliant Missy at the same lot so had to fundraise for Missy. We finally secured transport today. In the meantime, a new Thoroughbred mare came in to the same lot today named N P Burns. We are rescuing NP Burns to now take BB's place. Although, we do not defend feedlots, we do know that many of the horses they buy at lower end auctions are already in horrific shape because of previous abuse and neglect. We don't know if we could have gotten BB transported to quarantine sooner if she would have survived long term or not and sadly we will never know now. We do know that we do not want BB to have died in vain. That is why we are posting her deceased picture. The best thing you can do to honor her and to help other Thoroughbred mares that keep ending up at lower end auctions/feedlots is to contact the Jockey Club and state breeding associations in your state and demand that they provide the funding and create the infrastructure that is needed to protect these mares that served the industry. And to hold people in the industry accountable when they throw these mares to the wolves. We do not know who is at fault for BB ending up in the condition she did and in foal, we do not think it was a TB foal but mostly likely a crossbred. Regardless, she did everything that was asked of her and she sure as the hell did not deserve to die at a feedlot. She had the kindest eyes. It absolutely breaks our hearts that she died alone at a feedlot. 💔😢💔 And for the person or persons that abused and neglected her and then dumped her and her baby, may there be a special place in hell for people like you. 🔥 From the winner's circle to the breeding shed to the cheap auction and then the feedlot. That is the life of countless Thoroughbred mares. Change is needed NOW Jockey Club and industry. No more delays, no more excuses. Shame on you Jockey Club and industry. 🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘👉 This Thoroughbred mare Brilliant Missy (KY) Tattoo R13637 is at the Mclean, TX lot and has been there awhile. She has not received any help at all so far. Her time is starting to run out. This mare did everything that was asked of her. Many times some of you ask if we contact past connections. Yes, we do when we can or feel it is safe to do so. We contacted someone tonight that was affiliated with this mare that stated they had sold her 2 or 3 months ago because they could not get her in foal. They did not divulge to whom they sold her to. They said that they cannot keep every mare that does not produce until they die. And Maam, you cannot save the world. We stated not trying to save the world but this mare deserves to be safe. They offered no help and said Good Luck. This mindset and attitude amongst some thoroughbred breeders is unfortunately not unique and no surprise why broodmares end up at lower end auctions and then feedlots. Brilliant Missy is just another statistic with a Tag number. Shouldn't her life matter more than this? Doesn't she deserve safety and to be taken care of? Of course she does and that is one of the major things that we want to see, real changes being made and protection concerning broodmares in the Thoroughbred industry. This mindset that these mares are just disposable because a mare can no longer produce a foal has got to stop. So here she is at a feedlot with no help. Who is going to help her? Who is going to make sure she is safe and not taken to another auction or shipped North to Canada to be brutally slaughtered?
