Revolut CEO says you can't out-compete people who work 9 to 9, six days a week. @chameleon_jeff said the same thing in 2023. He was building his trading system 5am-10pm, 7 days a week, for months. Then he built Hyperliquid. I was just in Singapore and around Asia, and I can totally back this up. It's not even about the hours, it's the attitude and motivation. People there are hungry. Coming back to Europe, the contrast is huge. When the people who actually built these companies all say it, it's hard to argue with.
Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky: “The US is not that competitive. Europe is even less competitive.” “China is competitive.” “China is 9/9/6. Even if you are good in Europe, or in the US, how can you out-compete the people who work 9:00 to 9:00, six days a week?” “I started in a co-working space with 140 companies. Within 5 years, only 3 companies survived. They all worked on the weekends.” “Within 10 years, only 2 companies survived out of 140.” “Working weekends is a must if you want to survive. Purely statistically.”

sadly yes ;(
‘What it calls a flying car’ The UK attitude which drives so many entrepreneurs abroad. This isn’t just the BBC, it’s ingrained in every institution and into the public psyche. Tall poppy syndrome has likely destroyed trillions in value for the British economy. Pathetic.

you have about 3 options as a guy if you don't want to nuke your testosterone levels 1 - work in construction or frontier tech or crypto or something absurdly low-wokeness with very little HR or females etc 2 - run your own business 3 - be unemployed

"Everywhere we want to go, we want to dominate. Otherwise what's the point?" Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky tells @TomMackenzieTV the digital bank's offering will be "at par with Amex or JPMorgan Chase," and add products those card giants don't have bloom.bg/46r3dRt

100% true
I’m getting increasingly worried that there’s no ROI in AI. Yes, it replaces human effort and speeds up work, but it isn’t delivering more revenue. But here’s the thing… Human skills are deteriorating. The AI labs don’t need to outperform humans, they just need to make us dependent. Once they’ve achieved that, ROI doesn’t matter. AI will be viewed more like electricity: not optional. But it’s more sinister than that. Once we’re hooked, the dealers can charge whatever they want. And they’ll have to in order to justify this capex cycle.

💯 And not checking slack
Not checking emails for entire weeks at a time because you’re traveling is a sign of low intelligence. The world doesn’t operate like that anymore.

“Building in public” and “legibility to capital markets” are both directly in opposition to building a good company, and result in a worse startup. Your strategy and unique insights are your main weapons, especially in the age of ai, and sharing them openly with the world is how you lose and become one of many companies, rather than something special. This is why quant firms are so secretive. Anyone pushing you to share your strategy or unique insights with the entire world has incentives other than your company’s growth in mind.

The job is not to build a b2c app startup The job is to build a token-in-user-out ai marketing harness that works 24/7 and out-compete anyone in your b2c niche

App Store sales dropped for the first time in a decade
