FFS - It’s a pipeline that will help fund our lives. And those for many generations. Grow our economy.
Why does anyone believe they have the right to VETO?
If the pipeline gets cancelled will objectors agree to never take funds from Canada for any reason?

You are an old man way past his prime. It is time you walked off into the sunset. Your band members are rising up and speaking. They want the Indian act terminated. They want to own their own land and to be able to build businesses with their own assets. They want full equality for the first time in generations. And WE agree with them and support them. You are a relic. You and the white grifters and NGOs are going to be pushed out to pasture. Get used to it. It is baked in. Nothing you can do will stop what is coming.

Indigenous people: this man claims to represent you, and he is telling the non-indigenous people of BC that his mission is to make us all poorer. Him and his poisonous ideology is why we are at each other's throats. Please, throw him out, and find a leader who actually wants to see us get along and build a future together.

This headline is so sensational and misleading and embarrassing for the CBC. You’re Canada’s taxpayer-funded public broadcaster for god’s sake, exercise some judgement.

I like that Liberals are trying to justify this by saying Diana Fox Carney isn't being paid a salary.
Ok.
I wouldn't care if she was being paid a salary.
I care we added $1.2 Billion to the Oceans and Fisheries budget and she gets to mess around with it doing performative climate messaging, travelling to conferences and holding her own events and meetings all on the taxpayer dime.
This is a WASTE and just because she is not being directly paid doesn't mean she isn't spending our money.
Mark Carney letting her access government funds this way for a role with no inherent purpose or value is foolish in the extreme.
How did the news that Prime Minister Mark Carney was giving his wife $1.2 Billion dollars to be Canada's "Ocean Envoy" go with such little media coverage, let alone media scrutiny.
Dude gave his wife a $1.2 BILLION budget to pretend to be Aquaman or whatever an "Ocean Envoy" is supposed to do and most people just let that news slip past unnoticed.
Is she gong to talk to narwals about climate change?
Somehow Canada survived without an "Ocean Envoy" up to this point but apparently now we need Diana Fox Carney to don the Aquaman suit and go fight suspicious barnacles or something.
Goodness...

The UBCIC is an outdated organisation, run by a jaded generation who mistake being abrasive for effective diplomacy.
Many within local First Nations governments find this aggressive posturing just as embarrassing and counterproductive as anyone else.
Corporations would be far better off engaging directly with individual First Nations, rather than treating body politick like the UBCIC or the AFN as the final word.

When the young, brainwashed by climate hucksters of a bygone era, can’t get by as a direct result of climate policies choking the economy, their last hope is to double down in the faint hope they too can benefit in green grift
3 young “climate activists” who went to school and can’t find work in the “environmental field” want the Federal Government to give them a job with a new billion dollar program they’ve come up with.
Our Government has created a generation of psychologically abused people who think a tornado and a rain storm in Ottawa are a result of big oil.

The first government-backed system for sorting investments by environmental impact came from an unlikely place.
These systems, known as green taxonomies, label economic activities by their perceived environmental impact to steer investors toward some projects and away from others. Under the European Union’s version, for example, vehicle manufacturing qualifies as a green economic activity only if the vehicles produced have zero tailpipe emissions. A private-sector version appeared in 2012, when the non-profit Climate Bonds Initiative created a taxonomy to promote “green bonds”.
Canada is now building its own. A December 2025 Department of Finance press release said the taxonomy reflects Ottawa’s commitment to “mobilizing public and private capital to promote investment in sustainability, as part of the transition to net-zero.” Critics argue its real purpose is to constrain how banks, insurers and pension funds invest their clients’ money.
But the first government to create such a system was Communist China, whose central bank published a green taxonomy in December 2015 despite the country’s deplorable record on pollution.
Critics argue Canada is following a model pioneered by China that could limit where Canadian capital goes.
Should Canada follow China and Europe in labelling investments?

Building new pipelines and opening up additional export markets for Canadian oil gets Canadians the best value possible for our natural resources.
That's just one example of why we need to keep building new pipelines, powerlines, ports, roads and railways.

Every country in the European Union is legally bound to a climate goal that critics say no country has come close to meeting.
Under the European Climate Law, the EU’s 27 member states must become climate-neutral by 2050, which is what North Americans call “net zero”. Reaching it means cutting greenhouse gas emissions, mainly by slashing fossil fuel use, until any remaining emissions can be removed from the atmosphere or directly offset, for example by planting trees. Buying “carbon offsets” no longer counts. The European Green Deal, unveiled in 2019, aims to make Europe the world’s “first climate-neutral continent”. The legally binding European Climate Law puts that goal into law and requires EU policies across all economic sectors, especially energy and finance, to align with it.
Canada has its own version. The Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act commits Canada to net zero by 2050. Critics argue that recent federal approvals, including LNG Canada Phase 2 and a fast-tracked Alberta-B.C. oil pipeline, would be impossible if Canada followed through on that law.
The closest any country has come, critics note with some irony, is Cuba, where power outages now routinely last 23 hours a day.
Observers argue that as long as the net-zero law stands, Canada’s biggest new energy projects are on a collision course with its own climate commitments.
Should Canada keep its 2050 net-zero law on the books?

Confusing answers from Jaime Battiste, Crown-Indig Rel Parl Secretary, when @ellisbross asks if all FNs must consent for Pacific Link pipeline to go ahead. Battiste says Fed govt will fulfill "duty to consult" & adhere to UNDRIP's "free prior informed consent." Which is it? Consult or consent? Consult and accomodation is tied to Sec 35 in constitution; consent in UNDRIP can can confer a veto. Two very different parameters for negotiations.
Mark Carney has publicly promised that the Pacific Link Pipeline will be built if proper consensus with First Nations is achieved, yet he has not explained what consensus means in practice.
The Liberals were asked four times about their consultation process with First Nations in Question Period, and four times they failed to provide a clear answer.
