Looks like we have some details on the El Salvador military operation in Haiti. If accurate, about 100 Special Forces hitched a ride on someone's C-17 (ours?) 1-2 days, so about the time of Bukele's announcement / threat. This should be the cream of the El Salvador military, 1/

Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia continue. Riyadh disclosed that two contractors were killed in a drone attack that targeted the giant Shaybah oilfield (in the Empty quarter region near the UAE border). Another person died on an attack against the Dammam airport, near the country’s top oil installations in the Eastern province.

Cyprus must be a strange place: Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs, Greeks and Turks, Israelis feeling Israel, English military base, drunk English tourists, porn and crypto servers, offshore banks, every intelligence agency spying on each other — all on one medium sized island.

CHART OF THE DAY: LNG prices rise to a 4-year high, above $30 per mBtu. To put it into context, US/Canadian nat gas prices remain at ~$3 per mBtu. The American heavy industry (particularly chemical/fertilizer) is enjoying a huge feedstock cost advantage.

The Saudi oil ports of Yanbu and Al Muajjiz, in SAR imagery from @CopernicusEU Sentinel 1 on Oct 16 at 3.29pm GMT, that's it, **after** the Houthi ballistic attack against that area (intercepted, per the Saudis). The SAR imagery shows multiple tankers still loading.
Saudi Arabia is sustaining a very strong oil loading activity, per to @CopernicusEU Sentinel-2 imagery. Yesterday (Oct 15), it was loading 9 VLCCs plus another 2 Suezmax / Aframax with crude, for a total of >20 million barrels, from terminals in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea.

Not sure who needs to hear it but this is woefully unsustainable as the commercial shipping industry can't withstand a war of attrition. We simply don't make enough ships per year to disable or sink a couple a week.
Iranian forces reportedly managed to strike 6 commercial vessels in and near the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday alone -UKMTO The 6 ships struck on Oct. 11 mark the highest single-day tally since the war began.

I spent ages this morning doing my sums on China's September's trade data but kept having to redo them because I thought - surely they can't be right? China's trade surplus with Germany grew 201.7% in Sept alone (vs Sept 2025) With EU up 52.3% With France up 251.8% Crazy!

🇸🇦🇾🇪 After weeks of Houthi attacks on Saudi energy, the Saudis are hitting back: Spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis @CJFCSpox issues a warning that it will soon target "the site of the Yemeni oil Company" in Sana'a - warns civilians to evacuate.

MORE ⬇️ - Iran appears to be targeting commercial vessels conducting ship-to-ship oil transfers in and near the Strait of Hormuz in order to try to undermine vessels’ ability to move energy through the strait. - Iran has increased its threats against vessels in the strait, likely to reinforce the Iranian threat to shipping and reestablish control over the waterway by deterring vessels from using non-Iranian-approved routes. - Iran may be developing its anti-ship missile capabilities to improve its ability to target vessels.
NEW: The Houthis fully encircled Taiz City on October 12, which will impose multiple dilemmas on Yemeni government-aligned forces. A complete encirclement further restricts Yemeni government-aligned forces’ ability to reinforce and resupply their positions, withdraw forces, and sustain defensive operations in and around Taiz City. Other Key Takeaways: The Houthis likely perceive Saudi Arabia’s temporary closure of King Khalid International Airport and reports of Saudi Arabia’s air defense constraints as indicators that the group is successfully mounting pressure on Saudi Arabia. Such a perception would incentivize the Houthis to sustain attacks on Saudi critical infrastructure. Saudi Arabia has not indicated any willingness to agree to Houthi demands at the time of this writing, however. Iran appears to be targeting commercial vessels conducting ship-to-ship oil transfers in and near the Strait of Hormuz in order to try to undermine vessels’ ability to move energy through the strait. Iran has increased its threats against vessels in the strait, likely to reinforce the Iranian threat to shipping and reestablish control over the waterway by deterring vessels from using non-Iranian-approved routes. Iran may be developing its anti-ship missile capabilities to improve its ability to target vessels. Iran is threatening to attack US-linked digital infrastructure in response to potential future US strikes, likely in order to try to deter the United States from resuming military action against Iran. Iran likely seeks to threaten to expand the potential US targets for Iranian attacks in order to raise the United States’ perceived costs of renewed conflict with Iran.
