The @AbdulElSayed campaign statement: "This ad is not affiliated in any way with the Abdul for Senate campaign. Abdul is focused on pushing back against Trump’s agenda that is raising prices for Michiganders. No one speaks for Abdul but himself and his campaign." Nowhere in this statement does he condemn the message of the ad or even express any disagreement with it. If anything, he just finds the timing - in the last week of the campaign - to be tactically unhelpful.
If @AbdulElSayed truly means what he says about treating the Jewish community as he would treat his own children, then he would immediately condemn this dangerous ad as outrageously antisemitic and demand that it be taken down. If not, then he’s full of shit.

“If I were not a Jew…I wouldn’t have been an artist”. – Marc Chagall xitter.cf/ArchaeoBenjamin/status…
So Marc Chagall was simply...Eastern European? Are we sure there isn't a more relevant ethnic identity to a man born in the Pale of Settlement, banned from attending gentile schools by the Russian Empire, and whose paintings depict Jewish life? Nope? Just Eastern European?

Hey @NYCMayor Mamdani, you celebrate Eastern European heritage, mention Brighton Beach and Marc Chagall, yet somehow manage to write an entire post without mentioning Jews. Brighton Beach became famous because of Soviet Jewish immigrants. Chagall was Jewish, and his art was deeply rooted in Jewish culture. Was the word “Jewish” really that difficult to include?
New Yorkers experience the abundant contributions of our Eastern European neighbors every day. As we pair syrniki with sour cream in Brighton Beach, look in wonder at a Chagall painting at MoMA and banter with babushkas in Rego Park. Last week, we celebrated Eastern European heritage at Gracie Mansion, because the story of New York City cannot be told without the story of our Eastern European neighbors. From new immigrants to those who've lived here for generations, Eastern Europeans have built New York City. We owe them a city they can afford to call home.

Starting next school year, a bell-to-bell cell phone ban will take effect in every single Pennsylvania classroom. We’re getting back to the basics and keeping our classrooms focused on learning.

Thanks @SaraEisen for laying out the facts. Apparently the people behind this ad don’t understand basic economics, but they’re definitely experts in scare tactics and blatant antisemitic bigotry
Some serious economic misinformation to go with the antisemitism in this ad that blames Israel for the rising price of American eggs, bananas, healthcare - it falsely links American families’ grocery bills and healthcare costs to U.S. aid to Israel. - Aid to Israel is approximately 0.05% of federal spending - Most American military assistance to Israel goes to buy goods and services from U.S. defense contractors. - U.S. assistance is overwhelmingly military, not a direct subsidy for Israeli healthcare - most American bananas come from Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Honduras and prices are rising because of El Niño.

@brian_blase and I don’t agree on much. We served in the White House for separate administrations. We disagree about the Affordable Care Act and plenty else. But we agree that hospital prices are far too high and navigating care is far too complex. So what does a bipartisan fix look like? Read more in @washingtonpost.

Abdul El-Sayed taped an interview with Osama Siblani, who said Israeli Jews should go "back to Poland." He asked El-Sayed to "soothe" the fears of anti-Israel voters who fear El-Sayed is too supportive of Israel. I'm not sure who those voters are, since El-Sayed's hostile stance toward the one Jewish state is crystal clear. Just look at who he takes interviews with. Reporting: Washington Free Beacon

This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong. It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days. Do we need to lower costs by building more homes, securing people’s health care, and creating a fairer federal tax code? Yes, we do!! How we do so is not by blaming the high costs of our goods on the only Jewish homeland in the world. I want to see Democrats succeed at every level, and that means keeping our focus on lowering costs for Michigan families and reining in this out-of-control President.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

You want to know what desperate looks like? Blaming the price of bananas on Israel. Consider this PAC ad just another example of scapegoating the Jewish state. At least we can thank them for a case study in antisemitism.

For months, as Israeli opposition figures have gained in the polls, anti-Israel activists here have framed all potential Israeli leaders as equally unacceptable as Netanyahu, a response to the many Democrats who have asserted that their anger with Israel is directed toward the Netanyahu government, rather than the state as a whole. Unless Abdul El-Sayed immediately demands that this campaign ad be taken down and unequivocally condemns it and its creators, he will be exposed as a vile, dangerous, and divisive antisemite. Any (of my fellow) Democrats who condemn the disgusting Ramaswamy ad in Ohio but do not condemn this deserve our unflinching contempt.

New Gallup poll asks "which values the country most needs today?" Out of a list of 12 values, Republicans put "patriotism" #1, for Dems it ranks dead last - by a lot. Dems say "equality" is most needed, Republicans rank it 11th out of 12.

Precisely
Just to state the obvious: It’s entirely possible to oppose aid to Israel— whether on moral, foreign policy, or financial grounds — without promoting the fiction that such aid, or Israel itself, is responsible for what Americans pay for their groceries.
