October 27 2018. Eight years. May their memories be a blessing.
It's been 8 years since a gunman opened fire during Shabbat morning services at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, murdering 11 innocent people and injuring 7 others. The attack marked the deadliest act of antisemitism in U.S. history. Today, the heartbreak of that horrific day remains. 11 innocent lives were stolen and an entire community was forever changed. We continue to mourn those so mercilessly taken from this world simply because they were Jewish. May the memories of Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Joyce Fienberg, Irving Younger, Melvin Wax, Sylvan Simon, Bernice Simon, David Rosenthal, Cecil Rosenthal, Richard Gottfried, and Daniel Stein forever be a blessing.

An amazing launch to our State of the Arts work! So proud of my @ADL team and honored by the presence of the artists who shared their stories with us!
What an incredible night we had at the @TheJewishMuseum for the launch of @ADL's State of the Arts! Surrounded by artists of all kinds and patrons of the arts - all there to stand up and say enough is enough. Jewish and Israeli voices will not be silenced or pushed out of American cultural life. Thank you to all those who joined us. I meant what I said last night - this is only the beginning. pc: Getty for ADL

As part of our State of the Arts research, @ADL conducted a survey of U.S. adults to better understand how U.S. audiences view Jewish and Israeli inclusion in the arts. As my colleague @SJGoodman shared, what we found is "a clear and consistent gap between perceived market risk, what Jewish and Israeli authors are being told, and actual audience demand."

From ADL's @SJGoodman: Jewish educators "are not asking for special treatment. They are asking for the same dignity and belonging that unions promise every member. The reforms they are calling for are reasonable, achievable and entirely consistent with the values these institutions claim to uphold. It is time for union leaders to listen and to act." Proud of the work of my teams @ADL. We will always support Jewish educators and Jewish students.
Jewish educators are being pushed to the margins of the very unions meant to represent them. New ADL research exposes a systemic pattern of marginalization in U.S. teachers unions that is driving Jewish educators to self-censor, with many fearing backlash for voicing their concerns. Words are powerful, and those who want to lead must recognize that and reject rhetoric that can motivate others to act on hate.
The man arrested last week for throwing a brick at a synagogue in Sarasota, Florida, reportedly admitted to law enforcement that he deliberately targeted a Jewish house of worship and said he was motivated by social media propaganda. One video he reportedly reposted was @NYCMayor 's video demonizing Israel. As ADL’s @SJGoodman said, "The words and actions of people in positions of power can certainly motivate other people who are seeing them, who are reading it, who are exposed to that kind of material online.” The Jewish community deserves leaders who will confront antisemitism, not amplify rhetoric that fuels it.

What's happening in NY?
Mayor Mamdani says Israel's Prime Minister is not welcome in New York City. But do you know who's really made to feel unwelcome? NYC recorded more antisemitic incidents in 2025 than any other city in the country… and 2026 is already off to a troubling start.

The College Democrats of America chose to platform Hasan Piker, a streamer with a long track record of antisemitic rhetoric and expressing explicit support for U.S.-designated terrorist groups. It's deeply concerning to see the next generation of political leaders help normalize antisemitism rather than reject it. CDA's own Jewish Caucus condemned the move, rightfully calling it a "direct threat to Jewish safety and inclusion within the College Democrats community."
College Democrats of America’s decision to platform antisemitic and misogynistic streamer Hasan Piker at this past weekend’s convention undermined Jewish safety and was incompatible with our shared Democratic values. Read our full statement below.

The Tattoo Should Have Been Enough
Today, ADL ran an ad in the Maine Sunday Telegram (@PressHerald) calling on Democratic and Republican party leaders to reject antisemitism. It's easy to call out hatred on the other side. What takes real courage is demanding your own party condemn this behavior, even when it's politically uncomfortable. adl.org/resources/article/an…

We are devastated by the deadly shooting at the @islamicsandiego. No one should fear for their safety while attending a house of worship or school. Our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the broader Muslim community during this horrific moment. ADL and the ADL Center on Extremism are monitoring the situation closely.

ADL recorded a total of 6,274 incidents of antisemitic assault, harassment and vandalism across the U.S. in 2025. That's an average of 17 incidents per day, which is more than double the average of 8 incidents per day between 2020 and 2022.

Vigilance and continued action are needed to keep campuses safe and welcoming for Jewish and all students, staff and faculty.
Campus disruptions are escalating as the year ends: encampments at Occidental and Smith, hundreds of vandalism incidents at Swarthmore, student government votes to defund Hillel. Campus leaders must enforce policies and protect Jewish members of campus communities. Read our statement: notoleranceforantisemitism.a…

Tonight, on the first night of Passover, Jews around the world will gather around the Seder table to retell the story of the Israelites’ liberation from slavery. Each and every year, we fulfill a unique command: “And you shall tell your children.” We transform an ancient narrative into a present-day obligation — because the pursuit of freedom, and the fight against antisemitism and hate, are not confined to history. From our ADL family to yours, we wish you a Happy Passover. Chag Sameach.
