Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion about liberal zionism… last year I wrote this piece for LA Taco, check it out 👇
Why saying "Free Palestine" isn't antisemitic. "It involves rejecting the politics of ethnic supremacy, or an ethnostate, and instead embracing a future based on equality and justice for everyone." By @abemarquez3 The full story: lataco.com/opinion-shatterin…

If you want to talk about forced labor, look no further than the US prison system
Mexico is breaking the rules and helping Havana profit from forced labor. More than 3,000 Cuban doctors are working in Mexico under a program the U.S. State Department has classified as forced labor. That’s why I sent a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer urging him to hold Mexico accountable under the USMCA and press for an end to this abusive practice. The USMCA is not optional. Mexico cannot benefit from free trade with the United States while enabling the Cuban dictatorship to exploit its doctors.

they are just openly saying the quiet part out loud
To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba - now is the time. The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA.

CIA document from 1952 outlines how they embarked on programme to promote right-wing Christian currents to clamp down on what was later called "liberation theology" in Latin America. "The present rather weak and uncoordinated efforts of religious groups to combat Communism should be vigorously reinforced," the CIA noted. "Tremendous advantages to the Western program would ensue if it were possible to persuade all religious groups to unite in a campaign attacking Communism because of the Godlessness inherent in the Marxist doctrine." It continued: "It is therefore vital, if covert activities are to be effective, that they are carefully concentrated where they can accomplish the most". At the time the CIA complained that "its assets as to personnel and covert mechanisms are not capable of covertly supporting many different and wide-spread activities" in Latin America. This soon changed - and support for ultra conservative Christian currents in Latin America continues to this day. One big victim of this operation has been Brazil, where conservative Evangelical and Pentecostal churches have been promoted relentlessly. They were, later, a key element of far-right president Jair Bolsonaro's base - and now his son. The CIA (and MI6) did exact same in West Asia using, in this case, ultra conservative Wahhabis and Salafis as a bulwark against secular nationalism, socialism and anti-imperialism. Nasser in Egypt was the biggest target of all after he nationalised the Suez Canal in 1956 and the resulting UK/France/Israel invasion failed.

IN MEXICO, IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT SOCCER.🙄 A few years ago, these two kids came from a neighborhood in Tijuana. Today, they’re representing Mexico at the highest level of baseball. Tijuana natives Alejandro Kirk and Jonathan Aranda are set to play in the World Series in back-to-back years. Last year, Kirk did it with the Toronto Blue Jays. Now, Aranda will take the stage with the Tampa Bay Rays. They’re among the best players in the world at their positions, and the craziest part? Baseball still doesn’t get anywhere near the recognition soccer gets in Mexico. Mexico is more than soccer. 🤯

For those complaining about property damage in France from the protest, a reminder that France is also behind the genocide in Gaza and has a long history of providing Israel with military equipment.

I’ll forever hear that scream of a little girl watching her family burn to death this is zionism
A little girl in Gaza watched her mother burn to death after an Israeli strike and we have to rely on Ms Rachel to report it because the whole of Western media is ignoring it. How is this not newsworthy?

UCLA Ronald Reagan ER - a patient seeking care was shocked to see political messaging in the treatment area: a water bottle displaying Palestinian propaganda and a nurse wearing a keffiyeh scrunchie. Why is political advocacy allowed in a place where patients should be receiving care?

“It remains unclear how the protesters obtained credentials to a tightly controlled event of Army brass and defense contractors.” As we were happy to share at every event on our #EarthsGreatestEnemy tour, it’s not hard for you to get access to these things :))))
Protesters interrupted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at least five times during the Army's biggest annual conference, calling him a "war criminal" and "coward" over the Iran war as he tried to discuss the Pentagon's autonomous weapons initiative. It remains unclear how the protesters obtained credentials to attend the AUSA conference in Washington, D.C., a tightly controlled event that brings together Army brass and defense contractors.

In the last few weeks, the two mayoral candidates, Karen Bass and Nithya Raman, have been asked about the Gaza genocide If there is one thing L.A. history teaches us, it is that the mayor and city council can leverage their political and economic power against an apartheid country rather than give lip service in the form of statements of solidarity my latest: abemarquez.substack.com/p/40…
