Having a voice at the table between a bishop and a cardinal is synodalism.
Killshot, aimed right at the head of the Synodalistas.

There's probably something in Zizek about all of this.

Oh.
‼️ A coup d’état is underway in Poland. The forces acting on behalf of the current government have unlawfully entered the Constitutional Tribunal and are preventing legally appointed judges from entering. The President of Poland is urgently cutting short his visit abroad and returning to Warsaw.

Faith can be embodied in all cultures, because it does not identify itself with any of them in a specific one. It dwells within them, shaping them from within according to the “form” of Jesus Christ; that is, through charity, service and the filial recognition of God’s fatherhood. In this way, the Church draws from the various cultures all that is good, beautiful and true, in order to embody and transmit the message of the Gospel. #GeneralAudience

Do these guys ever have good faith dialogues with Catholics? Or do they just make stuff up for their audience?

I shouldn’t have to say this, but we shouldn’t use nukes to stop Iran from using nukes.

Apostolic succession was identified pretty early on as both the handing down of the apostolic teaching & the succession of bishops. So this isn’t really an issue for us.
Catholics and Evangelicals Need the Reformation @WesleyLHuff joins @MichaelHorton_ & @AdrielTweets to discuss why the church needs to recover the Reformation’s treatment of the Bible for its faith and practice today. 🎥 Watch: youtu.be/WVJvhxpT2tk 🎧 Listen: pod.link/1776875542/episode/…

He wasn't laying out policy for the whole Church. He was describing the Church in Algeria, where it's a tiny minority and trying to convert a Muslim is a crime. His point was that the Church there belongs to the country and serves it, rather than operating as a foreign outpost recruiting converts. You can still disagree with how he said it, but he was answering 'why are we here?' for Algeria, not rewriting the Great Commission.

“Theology is a mediation between the religion it reflects upon and the culture in which that reflection occurs.”—John Dadosky (2024)

It’s worth noting that Catholic sources often distinguish between “proselytism” and “evangelization”. The former is rejected, the latter is not.

No. We should double down on this.
The Pontiffs continue to double down on their mistakes regarding the death penalty and Just War.

All dogmas of the Catholic Church are revealed either explicitly or implicitly in Scripture. If you disagree with this claim, you probably are employing a diff hermeneutical, don’t understand the questions in play, or need to ponder the nature of dogma.

No one thinks the Father’s are our final authority.
Very good points here. I love and respect many of the early church fathers. But their teachings and writings must always be viewed as below scripture. Not equal with it.

The Army is preparing for the grim possibility of burying fallen soldiers on the battlefield, testing how fast it can dig temporary graves while preserving remains for eventual identification and return to families after the end of a conflict. armytimes.com/news/your-army…

It’s ironic that Matt uses Tertullian against Newman w/r/t the acorn bit, because Tertullian uses the same analogy in his discussion of development.
I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. Acts 20:27 One of the claims John Henry Newman makes in his “Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine” is that God purposefully held back truth because mankind wasn’t ready for it, “since human infirmity could not take all things in at once.” Tertullian had encountered the idea among heretics that only to some had God revealed certain truths, and not all at once. He says they “declare that the apostles certainly knew all things, but did not deliver all things to all persons,—in either case exposing Christ to blame for having sent forth apostles who had either too much ignorance, or too little simplicity.” (Prescription Against Heretics.) Newman uses the illustration of a seed growing into a shrub, it blossoms finally into fruit. Such a method allows the revelation of God to become a wax nose, bendable to whatever shape the later church wishes. It is difficult to say this has not happened.

I’m not at liberty to share all the details, but suffice it to say that many people rejoicing over this have given a completely incorrect rendering of what occurred and why. ICE did not come to his home. This whole thing is a paperwork issue that they’re working to resolve. Samuel Sey is a good man. As you can imagine, his wife, who’s at home with their 3 babies, is devastated and also trusting the Lord to help them find a resolution quickly. Please pray for all of the Seys. Pray for wisdom and provision. Those celebrating because they don’t like something Sam said are slanderous backbiters and gossips. Pay them no mind

If I judged Catholicism and what it taught only based on Trads on twitter, I'd believe that Catholics have no real room for the development of doctrine, no real Christology of other religions, no room for Protestants, and I'd think that we must embrace the most pessimistic view about mortal sin and handle every theological question as a late manualist. I'd also assume the last handful of Pope's were pretty ignorant and were barely the Pope, if at all. My confidence in Catholicism would go way down. Thankfully, this isn't the only form of Catholicism. There is an inclusive, optimistic, and generously ecumenical version that also has an evangelical spirit. I hope people get to see this type of Catholicism. If you spend a lot of time watching Pope Leo and Pope Francis, you will get to see a great representation of it at least. Below, I'll post some book recommendations.
