I have some news! I’m thrilled to join @NYC_DOT as Chief of Staff. I’m excited to continue working on transportation for the City of New York and seize this moment to make our streets and public spaces the envy of the world. Let’s get it done.

Red-light cameras reduce red-light running 80% at the intersections where they are installed.
Today @NYC_DOT announced that it completed an expansion of this life-saving tool to 600 intersections citywide, the max allowed under state law.

Hate to say it but they're both right
Connecticut is the state I visit the most thanks to my lovely in-laws living there — people in CT are either Boston or NYC grouped and no one in the NYC bracket would say this is better than the city.

We know how to make our streets safer, so we did it 600 times.
Red light cameras reduce red light running by 80% and T-bone crashes by 65%. Most importantly, they help New Yorkers get home safely.
That's why we installed new red light cameras at 600 intersections across the five boroughs to help stop dangerous driving before tragedy strikes, and make our streets safer for everyone who walks, rolls, drives, or takes the bus.

I can’t imagine the strength it takes to lock in like this when you’re a newcomer to politics, you’re in the last two weeks of a toss-up race for governor, and suddenly your mom you haven’t seen in 50 yrs is on every TV relitigating your childhood sex abuse and calling you a liar
ACTON REPSONDS: @amyactonoh responds to an attack ad featuring her estranged mother, who calls Acton a liar. The two have not spoken since 1978, when after Acton disclosed she was sexually abused between the ages of 9 and 12, her stepfather was arrested on rape charges. Acton’s mother backed her husband against the charges and lost custody of Acton and her brother.
Thrilled to celebrate opening night of the @nyknicks with a perfect trade @NYCSanitation!
Deep cut: this came about from a joke leading to a literal handshake deal between me and our friends at DSNY! 🤝 partners in the public realm and partners in fandom
The blockbuster trade you never saw coming 🏀
As a gesture of good luck for the start of the @nyknicks season, we have officially traded pieces of NBA Championship history with @NYCSanitation. 🏆
And we have one thing to say about it...
LET'S GO KNICKS!!!! 🧡💙

To be fair, current parenting expectations make have more than 2 kids really hard for a lot of people. Children are an intensive fiscal AND time commitment. I am the 3rd child in my family and wanted 3 kids but I’ve affirmatively stopped at 2.
Replying to @mtkonczal
Is this a new status symbol? I don't think so. It looks more like children fall for all families except the 1% over the past 30 years.
Maybe the things that made children more difficult for the 99% just bounced right off the 1%? /2

Hard to think of a more regressive tax policy than “only people with mortgage debt should have to pay property taxes”
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

One thing that nobody really prepares you for in becoming a parent of multiple young children is that there are some days when you have a 2 minute story you want to tell your spouse, but you can never quite get past the 30-45 second mark

“Listen to your body.”
My body: Delete Microsoft Teams. Delete Outlook. Lie down for 8–10 hours. Touch grass. Roll around in the grass. Eat some grass. You’re a cow now

Living in NYC is saying “that’s actually cheap” about a price that would upset your family back home.
My aunt once told my the unofficial family motto is “better living through pharmaceuticals,” since my grandpa and dad were both pharmacists. Literally the polar opposite of whatever this….is.

⛈️⛈️⛈️ Strong thunderstorms could move through the city as a cold front crosses NYC. The forecast shows winds picking up around 3 p.m., with the main storm window from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and possible gusts of 40 to 60 mph that could bring down tree branches. According to the forecast, the highest chance of severe storms is expected in western parts of the city.
Before any storm, it’s always a good idea take the following steps:
Secure loose items on balconies, rooftops, and patios.
Charge your phone and devices.
If you hear thunder, go inside and move away from windows.
Gusty winds are expected to continue Saturday morning, with gusts of 30 to 35 mph and much cooler temperatures.
Get alerts: text NOTIFYNYC to 692-692 or visit nyc.gov/notifynyc. Report downed trees to 311, and call 911 if anyone is in danger.
