“Without action, Governor Hinojosa will inherit the powers of a DICTATOR.”
So we’re admitting Abbott has been given essentially the power of a dictator the past 11 years?
🚨 I call on Gov. Abbott to IMMEDIATELY convene a special session to REIN IN EXECUTIVE EMERGENCY POWERS… before Gina Hinojosa is sworn in!
Republicans lost last night, but Democrats were not sworn in.
We still have total power in Texas, and we must act like it by using the remaining ten weeks to restore separation of powers and limit the emergency powers that Governor-Elect Hinojosa is set to inherit, which would allow her to destroy liberty in Texas by executive fiat.
I’ve warned since I was first elected that NO governor, Republican or Democrat, should have unchecked emergency powers!
Now that Texas has elected a Democrat Governor, the urgency is undeniable… and inaction is intolerable.
Without action, Governor Hinojosa will inherit the powers of a DICTATOR.
Due to the absurd (and almost certainly unconstitutional) Texas emergency powers laws, Gov. Hinojosa will literally have the power to modify laws, ignore laws, or create and enforce laws – including criminal laws – on a whim!
Today is a day for ACTION, and bold leadership.
The Texas Legislature must immediately pass, and Governor Abbott must sign, legislation like HB911, which I filed in 2022 and warned at the time, that “Never ending emergency powers are antithetical to representative government and render people powerless. Legislative bodies allowing a single executive branch official to both write and enforce laws is the biggest threat to our constitutional system of divided government and should be opposed irrespective of which political party runs the executive branch.”
My legislation would protect liberty from executive fiat by, among other things, taking the following actions:
1. Prohibit the Governor from suspending or modifying statutes
2. Sunset emergency orders in 30 days if the legislature does not ratify the order
3. Prohibit the governor from reissuing emergency orders that expired or the legislature rejected
4. Require emergency orders to be narrowly tailored
5. Subject emergency orders to expedited judicial review
We have TEN WEEKS LEFT to protect Texas from near total Democrat rule.
I encourage every elected Republican in Texas to join my demand for Gov. Abbott to call a special session.
The future of liberty in America is literally on the line in Texas, and Texans deserve leadership that acts accordingly.

The creator of Hots&Cots is looking for new work. Help out a man who has helped so many.
* A full-time senior iOS role, building apps or the platforms behind them.
* Contract work. If you need an iOS, Android, or web app built end to end, that’s how I built Hots&Cots.
Hots&Cots has never been my full-time job. It’s been nights, weekends, and vacation days.
My day job has been almost 13 years at Microsoft, most recently as a senior iOS engineer. I’m part of this round.
So I’m open to two things:
* A full-time senior iOS role, building apps or the platforms behind them.
* Contract work. If you need an iOS, Android, or web app built end to end, that’s how I built Hots&Cots.
DMs are open. Hots&Cots isn’t going anywhere.

Folks, Brazil is the perfect example of what I’ve said about this platform and Community Notes since Elon launched it.
Tonight and all day tomorrow, your feed will fill with thousands of posts claiming the Brazil election was stolen because Lula’s buddy on the Supreme Court extended voting by 2 hours.
That claim, we already know, is absolute bullshit.
Both campaigns asked for the extension, Flávio Bolsonaro’s included, after bus shortages and bad weather hit voters in several cities.
teapawt.org/tommysantos14/status/2…
Almost every one of those posts will run note-free. The few that get a Community Note will get it after the damage is done.
MAGA propaganda spreads like wildfire here for one reason: Elon Musk designed it that way. Community Notes has always been a red herring.
Give it a few hours. Musk will repost one of his favorite stooges with a one-word “Concerning,” and that lie will land in front of his 241 million followers.
And Community Notes will never catch up.
So when I call Elon Musk Trump’s Joseph Goebbels, I mean every word.
Both Brazil candidates requested voting extensions.
MAGA, once again, is lying about a "rigged" election.
cartacapital.com.br/politica…
"The campaigns of Lula (PT) and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) requested this Sunday, October 25th, that the Superior Electoral Court extend the voting hours for the second round until 7 PM in localities affected by problems that hindered voters' access to the polls. The requests have different justifications."
"While the PT campaign points to failures in public
transportation, the Bolsonaro campaign mainly cites rain, flooding, road closures, and changes to polling locations."
"Flávio's campaign is requesting two additional hours of voting in 17 municipalities in São Paulo, Paraná, and Santa Catarina. The team is also requesting that the announcement of the presidential results only begin
after the polls have closed in the areas covered by the extension."

So let met get that straight: paying a wealth tax is impossible (“billionaires have no liquidity”, “it would be taxing unrealized gains”, “their wealth is virtual”) but paying half a billion to influence elections is possible. Did I understand well?
Elon Musk has cemented his record as the largest individual political donor in modern American history.
Musk poured $446 million of his own money into this year’s midterm elections, mostly aimed at preserving the Republican Party’s control of Congress. wapo.st/4igb5Kq

Yes, let me remind you of what some of Trump’s allies did during and after the 2020 election that contributed to this level of distrust…..
• Kenneth Chesebro pleaded guilty to conspiracy to file false documents in Georgia.
• Jenna Ellis pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting false statements about the Georgia election.
• Sidney Powell pleaded guilty to conspiring to interfere with election duties.
• Scott Hall pleaded guilty to conspiring to interfere with election duties.
• Rudy Giuliani was found liable for defaming two Georgia election workers through false election-fraud accusations.
These aren’t allegations or conspiracy theories. These are all established court outcomes that helped bring the truth to the American people.

My take: Putin gave up nothing by releasing a 74-year-old American held as a pawn for this type of moment. Putin is not a humanitarian, despite how Mr Witkoff addressed him. And whereas President Trump says he gave up nothing for Stephen Hubbard's release, you will hear all the experts correctly say that he did: busting his own sanctions for a diesel deal with Putin that could put $4 billion into his war chest; inviting Putin to the G20; and dumping Putin's victim, Ukraine, face down in the mud, as it tries to defend its sovereignty and its freedom. You’ve heard the historians call all this appeasement, going against America's own democratic values.

We don’t use Starlink for our responses inside Russia. We use Starlink to intercept jet-powered “shaheds” that attack our civilians and kill families.
Starlink wasn’t turned off – its speed was reduced. And when the speed was reduced, we were unable to intercept a certain number of jet-powered “shaheds.” We couldn’t use a tool that helps protect people. That’s very painful and frustrating.
We also use Starlink for mid-range strikes against enemy military targets in our temporarily occupied territories. We couldn’t do that when the restrictions were in place. And third, what matters most is people. Our warriors, who spend weeks and months on the front line, receive food and water delivered by drones using Starlink.
Has the speed been fully restored to what it was before? No. Is it being restored now? Yes.

No. The US has never transferred any Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine under Biden or Trump. Zelenskyy requested them repeatedly and talks occurred, but none were delivered. Reported US stockpile strain comes mainly from operations against Iran. Claims of Ukraine selling US weapons on the black market lack evidence from DoD inspectors and GAO reports.

Analyses of DOJ clemency records by the New York Times, NBC News and others show the Trump administrations have granted clemency to the most people convicted of fraud-related offenses among recent presidents—over 70 across both terms, far exceeding totals for Obama, Biden, Clinton or Bush. White-collar cases, including wire, bank and Medicare fraud, make up a high share of those grants.
